Wait For God

Today my reading began in Job 10 where in verse 1 Job is starting a pity party.

“I loathe my very life; therefore I will give free rein to my complaint and speak out in the bitterness of my heart.” He’s laying it all out. At times it’s good to “get things out of our system.” But we need to also guard our hearts so it doesn’t lead us to think of all past hurts and keeping count of all the times life was “not fair.” Instead of complaining about a situation lets ask ourselves, “What can I learn from this? What is God showing me?” To be honest, a lot of times we just want God to take us out of the mess. What might we be missing if we pray for an escape instead of a lesson?

Thinking about how Job had to wait for his answer led me to Psalm 27:14 “Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” David knew a thing or two about waiting. He was anointed King when he was 16 but didn’t actually become king until he was 30. David’s wait wasn’t peaceful ; he had to deal with an angry and jealous King Saul. Waiting for God is not easy. We may be tempted to think that God doesn’t hear, doesn’t care .... But believe that God does hear, does care, and He is worth waiting for!!!!

I share this to urge you to wait for God. And as you wait seek the lessons. Allow God to use this waiting period to teach you, renew and refresh you! God promises to never leave you nor forsake you....so wait with expectant hope and discover what God is trying to teach you.
