“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! Interlude”
Psalms 46:1-3 NLT
I see the COVID virus shaking people’s confidence and their strength crumbling into the sea. There is fear!
But wait, these verses are saying that even if we face great destruction, we don’t have to fear. We can have confidence in God! God is our refuge no matter what we face. He’s not a temporary fix or respite care. He’s our eternal refuge and He gives us strength to face any circumstance. Think about that! That is encouraging.
When we think of God as a refuge it’s not that we run and hide. We may need to do that initially, but then He gives us strength to face the circumstances. We’re not in the fetal position hiding from the world. When we seek refuge with God I see Him straightening up our armor, tightening up our belts, making sure our laces are tied and then He sets us on solid ground and we take our positions in the world. Very encouraging!!!!
Remember all the times God lifted you up from the pit. Remember when God provided for you and your family. Remember when God healed you. Remember when God mended your broken heart. Remember when God forgave you of all your sins. Remember when God gave you peace in the midst of turmoil. Remember every, single time God showed up!!!!!! What makes you think today is different? God is here! God is our refuge. God is our strength.
Remember all the times He was YOUR BIG GOD! Give Him praise for He is with you today and forever! You CAN face the day with the quiet confident eyes in God’s ability to save!!!!
