David’s Prayer Life

Psa 5:3, Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.

David was a man after God’s own heart. From the moment he woke from his sleep, his thoughts turned immediately to the Lord…for David knew that God would hear his voice, and his cries for help. He knew that God would listen to his prayer requests—then he eagerly watched and waited for God’s response. David then rejoiced in God’s never-failing faithfulness. David’s prayer life was regular, faithful, orderly, expectant and intentional.

We often have an idea of how God will answer our prayers and when it should be answered…but God’s ways are not always our way…and His timings do not always match up with our eager expectation.

Do we seek the Lord when we first open our eyes from a nights rest? Do we pray purposefully…and with praise? As we wait, are we patient and still?

God yearns for an intimate communion with you. He prepares you and waits with excitement for you to worship Him. As you get ready:

  • Set your alarm to wake,

  • Have your Bible, notebook, and pen at your bedside,

  • Have a plan: a devotion, understanding scripture or a study plan;

  • Most important is your commitment…a morning priority of prayer time.

The Word of God is faithful and true. It endures for ever and ever. He will answer your prayers. Pray, worship and praise Him today.

Holy Father, help me to never grow tired of spending time with You. You are a God Who hears and answers prayers—in Your own way and in Your own time—this I ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.
